Geometric-based nail segmentation for clinical measurements

چکیده

Abstract A robust segmentation method that can be used to perform measurements on toenails is presented. The proposed as the first step in a clinical trial objectively quantify incidence of particular pathology. For such an assessment, it necessary distinguish nail, which locally appears similar skin. Many algorithms have been used, each leverages different aspects toenail appearance. We Hough transform locate tip toe and estimate nail location size. Subsequently, we classified super-pixels image based their geometric photometric information. Thereafter, watershed delineated border nail. was validated using 348-image medical dataset, achieving accuracy 0.993 F-measure 0.925. considerably across samples, with respect factors shape, skin pigmentation, illumination conditions, appearance large regions affected by condition.

A geometric flow-based approach for diffusion tensor image segmentation.

Diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging (DT-MRI, shortened as DTI) produces, from a set of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance images, tensor-valued images where each voxel is assigned a 3x3 symmetric, positive-definite matrix. This tensor is simply the covariance matrix of a local Gaussian process with zero mean, modelling the average motion of water molecules. We propose a three-dimensi...

Megavoltage dose enhancement of gold nanoparticles for different geometric set-ups: Measurements and Monte Carlo simulation

Background: Gold nanoparticles (GNPs) have been shown as a good radiosensitizer. In combination with radiotherapy, several studies with orthovoltage X-rays have shown considerable dose enhancement effects. This paper reports the dose enhancement factor (DEF) due to GNPs in 18 megavoltage (MV) beams. Materials and Methods: Different geometrical 50-nm GNPs configurations at a concentrati...

Neural networks can be regarded as statistical models, and can be analysed in a Bayesian framework. Generalisation is measured by the performance on independent test data drawn from the same distribution as the training data. Such performance can be quantiied by the posterior average of the information divergence between the true and the model distributions. Averaging over the Bayesian posterio...

An Improved Pixon-Based Approach for Image Segmentation

An improved pixon-based method is proposed in this paper for image segmentation. In thisapproach, a wavelet thresholding technique is initially applied on the image to reduce noise and toslightly smooth the image. This technique causes an image not to be oversegmented when the pixonbasedmethod is used. Indeed, the wavelet thresholding, as a pre-processing step, eliminates theunnecessary details...
